Experiment E845 aimed to measure the g-factor of the first 2+ excited state in 22Ne. This measurement held significant importance for two reasons: (i) the g-factor of this stable nucleus is of great theoretical interest, and (ii) although a high-precision value (~2%) had been previously reported, it was called into question following measurements at ISOLDE on 28Mg. A highly accurate determination of g(2+, 22Ne) would clarify the discrepancy and aid in the interpretation of data obtained for radioactive 28Mg from ISOLDE.
