E710_15 - Experiment performed to measure the lifetime of the Ex=7.785 MeV level in 23Mg. The determination of lifetimes > 1 fs is possible by analyzing the Doppler–Shift–Attenuated (DSA) line-shape of the gamma rays. The position/angular resolution of AGATA is exploited. The state of interest was populated via the transfer reaction 24Mg+3He=>23Mg*+alpha reaction at 4MeV/u. The reaction channel and excitation energy of interest were tagged by detecting the alpha particles in the VAMOS++ spectrometer at 0 degree. Emitted protons from unbound states in 23Mg were also detected in an annular silicon dE–E detector (SPIDER). A small drift chamber in front of VAMOS++ allowed an additional reconstruction of the alpha trajectories.
